Fede Chingotto and Miguel Yanguas were proclaimed champions of the FIP Platinum of Sardinia after defeating Xisco Gil and Ramiro Moyano in the final by 6-3/6-4. The match had an energetic pace from the start. Despite the demanding semi-finals of the two couples to advance to the final, the four players gave everything in the hour and ten minutes that the match lasted. The final was very close and that equality was reflected on the scoreboard.

The first set the two couples started very solid with their services and setting a high pace of the match. Both couples were strong with their serves, from which they took advantage to win the games. This translated into an equal score, in this first set neither of the two couples had the opportunity to have a break point, until in the eighth game of the set Chingotto and Yanguas had the opportunity to break their rivals’ service.

A mistake by Ramiro Moyano made the score 30-40, in favor of Juani Mieres’ men, and gave them the opportunity to break serve. Chingotto managed to take the point for his partner and thus, at 5-3, serve to close the set. Chingotto and Yanguas scored the first set after closing it with a final blank game that put them ahead on the scoreboard.

In the second set, Xisco Gil and Ramiro Moyano began with a scoreless game that put them ahead in the second set. Chingotto and Yanguas took their serve, and the equality seen in the first set was also maintained during the second. The two couples were strong on serve and prevented their rivals from taking advantage of the rest. Gil and Moyano had the option to break Chingotto’s serve, they had three break points, but Fede and Miguel turned the game around and maintained the trend.

In the next game, those who had the option to break were Chingotto and Yanguas, who, like what happened in the first set, took advantage of this opportunity. On this occasion it was Yanguas who delivered the knockout blow to lead 5-4 in the set and with serve. The couple closed the match with a blank game that proclaimed them champions of the Sardinian tournament.
