Tito Allemandi and Tolito Aguirre make history by winning the first Grand Master in New York
Tito Allemandi and Tolito Aguirre made history on Sunday by winning the first New York Grand Master, the most important tournament of the World Padel Tour season. The Argentine couple defeated Franco Dal Bianco and Maxi Arce in the final by 7/6(1) and 7/5, thus achieving their first title of the season.
In a very even match, Tito and Tolito knew how to find the perfect strategy to destabilize the number one in the world. In the first set, Dal Bianco and Arce achieved a break in the second game, but the Argentines responded with two consecutive breaks to go 4-2 up. The set was decided in the tie-break, where Tito and Tolito were far superior, winning 7/1.
In the second set, Aguirre and Allemandise showed better physical condition than their rivals, who had just played three sets in the semifinals. The Argentines achieved a break in the fourth game and maintained it until the final, to close the match 7/5.
With this victory, Tito and Tolito become the first champions of the New York Grand Master. It is also the first title of the season for the Argentine couple, which is placed in third place in the world ranking.
