The action continues at the Cagliari Tennis Club in the first FIP Platinum of the season. The round of 16 matches have already been decided, after the last matches of the round of 32 have been played. The last matches of the first round of the final draw have shown equality between the couples.

The couple formed by Iván Ramírez and Pablo García Rodrigo defeated Enrique Goenaga and Marc Quílez 7-5/6-3. The two couples were very even during the first set, both defended well until Iván García and Pablo García Redondo decided the first set in their favor. In the second they were superior and solved it quickly. In the round of 16 they will face Gonzalo Rubio and Álex Arroyo, who defeated Teo Zapata and Tonet Sans 6-3/6-4 in one hour and nine minutes of play.

Javi Barahona and Javi García won in three sets, 6-3/2-6/6-3 against Adrián Ronco and Pepe Aliaga. Barahona and García started the game with dominance. They broke their rivals’ serve twice and won the first set. In the second Aliaga and Ronco reacted with a 6-2 to force the third set. In the last set, the ”Javieres” were once again above their rivals and took the victory. With this victory, their rivals in the round of 16 will be Fede Chingotto and Miguel Yanguas, number one seeds in the tournament.

On the other side of the draw, Mario Huete and Denis Perino took the victory in two sets, 6-2/7-5 against the lucky losers Jaime Menéndez and Borja Yribarren, who after losing in the qualifying round played in the round of 32 . Huete and Perino started well and soon found themselves with an advantage on the scoreboard that allowed them to close the first set comfortably with a 6-2. While in the second Menéndez and Yribarren reacted, but finally fell in the second set. Mario del Castillo and Nacho Sager await the Huete-Perino couple in the next round.

The Argentine duo of Tino Libaak and Leo Augsburger made it to the round of 16 after winning a match against Mario Ortega and Carlos Martí 6-3/7-6. A great match between both pairs, in which for almost an hour and a half of the match, the four players left everything on the court. In the round of 16 Augsburger and Libaak will face Campagnolo and Esbri for a place in the quarterfinals. Álvaro Meléndez and Cristian Germán Gutiérrez won the duel against Daniel Windahl and Simon Vasquez 7-6/6-4. The Spanish-Argentine couple will meet their counterparts, ‘Xisco’ Gil and Ramiro Moyano, in the next round.

The round of 16 will be played in its entirety this Thursday. From this phase onwards, the seeds, who were exempt from playing the first round of the final draw, begin to play. These are the eight games in this round:
