Arce and Dal Bianco, historical record in Panama
Franco Dal Bianco and Maxi Arce made history by becoming the first Central American champions at the Adidas Panama Open, in addition to being the only couple to have won 8 titles in one season.
In a very close final, the world number 1 came back from a set down to beat Nico Egea and Agustín Torre 3-6, 7-6(0) and 6-2.
Egea and Torre surprised the favorites in the first set, imposing their game on the net and with quality lobs. Dal Bianco and Arce couldn’t find a way to counter their game and were forced to give up the set 6-3.
In the second set, the match was even. Both pairs held serve and went to the tie-break. There, Dal Bianco and Arce displayed their best game and won emphatically 7-0.
In the third set, the world number 1 came out with a new look and took a 2-0 lead. Egea and Torre did not give up and recovered the disadvantage, but Dal Bianco and Arce once again broke their rivals’ service to seal the victory and the historic record.
Dal Bianco and Arce will seek their ninth title at the New York Grand Master, a historic tournament that begins on October 9.
