Patty Llaguno and Lucía Sainz were proclaimed champions of the FIP PLATINUM Sardegna after beating Carolina Orsi and Carla Mesa in the final by 6-4 and 6-2.

The Spanish pair, who have only been playing together for a few weeks, offered an impeccable performance, both in attack and defense. Llaguno, former world number one, and Sainz, European champion in 2022, were very solid in all aspects of the game.

Orsi and Mesa, who were playing in their first final of the season, could not do much against the superiority of their rivals. The Italian couple, who had beaten the world number ones, Maxi Sánchez Blasco and Fede Chiostri, in the semifinals, suffered from fatigue and could not keep up with Llaguno and Sainz.

The triumph of Llaguno and Sainz is an important step forward in their new stage as a couple. The Spanish, who are in 15th and 16th place in the FIP ranking, have become one of the most fearsome couples on the circuit.
