The women’s round of 32 at the Amsterdam Open witnessed some surprising results. Ksenia Sharifova and Marta Borrero, who came from the qualifying phase, eliminated numbers six, Mapi and Majo Sánchez Alayeto, in an epic match that lasted more than two and a half hours.

Sharifova and Borrero, who qualified for the main draw through the qualifying phase, demonstrated their great potential by defeating the Sánchez Alayeto sisters, who are two of the best couples in the world. The Russians and the Spanish dominated the match in the decisive moments to take the victory 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Another surprising result was the victory of Alix Collombon and Lorena Rufo over the “Lucky Loser” Ariadna Cañellas and Noemí Aguilar. The Spanish-French couple won decisively 6-1, 6-0.
